More Than 100,000 El Paso Residents Left Without Water After Major Main Break
A significant break in a 36-inch water main line over the weekend left more than 100,000 El Paso residents with little to no water access, city officials confirmed today. The break impacted dozens of water connections and drained multiple water reservoirs, prompting the city to issue a boil water notice and open water distribution centers for residents. Several schools in the El Paso Independent School District canceled classes due to the shortage.
City officials have not yet identified the cause of the rupture and say it may take until midweek to fully restore water service.
